Festive Indian Rings: The Finishing Touch for Diwali and Wedding Season

Gold festive Indian rings with pearl accents and floral design on a woman's hand.

Think about the festive photos you take every year, accented by the sparkle of festive Indian rings. Lighting the diyas. Holding the puja thali. Drawing the rangoli. Dealing cards at the Diwali party. Showing off your mehendi at a cousin's wedding.

In almost every one of them, your hands are right in the middle of the frame. That is why a good festive ring matters more than most of us realise. You can plan the perfect outfit and earrings, but it is the ring that gets seen up close.

Here are the Indian rings we would wear this festive season. They suit Lakshmi Puja and wedding sangeets.

Our festive Indian rings picks, moment by moment

For Lakshmi Puja: a traditional meenakari ring

For the puja itself, you want something traditional that sits well with a silk saree and a gold kada.

Sonam Polki Indian Ring, Adjustable, ₹2,650. Polki with green meenakari. Beautiful with red, maroon or a classic Banarasi, and it looks lovely in the glow of the diyas.

For the Diwali card party: a statement polki ring

At a taash party, your hands are on the table all night. This is the place for your biggest ring.

Naina Polki Statement Ring, Adjustable, ₹2,150. A big traditional cocktail ring. Everyone at the table will notice it every time you deal.

Ornate festive Indian ring with a large red stone and diamond accents on a woman's hand.

For a pastel or Indo-western festive look

Not every festive outfit is red and gold. If you are wearing pastels, a gown or a co-ord set, pick a ring with softer colour.

Vedavati Enamel Indo-Western Polki Ring, Adjustable, ₹1,950. Enamel in soft, modern colours with polki. Made for a Diwali dinner in a pastel lehenga or a festive dress.

For the office Diwali party: something smaller

For a festive day at work, you want a ring that feels special without being too much.

Rohini Polki Halo Ring, Adjustable, ₹2,050. A polki centre with a ring of coloured stones. Festive enough for the party, small enough for your desk the next day.

Intricate festive Indian ring with white and green stones on a hand against pink embroidered fabric.

For the sangeet: a double finger ring

Wedding season starts right after Diwali. For the sangeet, when your hands are in the air for every dance, go for something that spans two fingers.

Divya Double Finger Polki Gold Ring, ₹2,450. Polki and pearls across two fingers. It catches the light every time you move.

Festive Indian rings: gold floral ring with pearls and stones, and matching stud earrings.

For the bride and her mehendi: nail rings

Nail rings sit on the tip of the finger, over the nail. They have become a favourite for brides and for mehendi photos.

Polki Designer Delicate Nail Rings, ₹1,050. Small polki nail rings. Wear one on a single finger or a few across one hand, right over your mehendi.

How to wear rings through the festive season

Put your best ring on the hand that holds things. The hand holding the diya, the thali or the plate is the one in the photo.

One statement ring per hand. If you are wearing a big polki ring, let it be the only big piece on that hand. Small rings on the other fingers are fine.

Pair it with a kada. A statement ring and a single kada on the same hand look complete, especially with a saree.

With mehendi, go gold. Gold-tone rings stand out against dark mehendi. Very colourful rings can get lost in the pattern.

Match the gold, not the stones. Your ring doesn't need to match your earrings stone for stone, only the gold tone.

Rings make easy festive gifts

A ring is an easy gift for your sister, mother or bhabhi. Most of our rings are adjustable. You don't need to know her size. She will wear it to every function.

Look after them through a busy season

Festive weeks are hard on jewellery. Perfume, mehendi and hand washing are risks. Remove rings before washing hands. Keep them away from perfume and water. Wipe them with a soft cloth before storing. More tips in our jewellery care guide.
